Welcome to my world...

Yes, you have stumbled upon *another* mom blog....but this one is a wee bit different. Sure, we chat about munchkins, but throw in some gardening advice and mid-life career changes and you've just found a new best friend!

Guess? What do you think it would be? Maybe the oven blowing up? After you've mixed everything, you find out that the flour had tiny black bugs in it? Well- I was happily mixing away when one of the beaters started to escape from the machine and in doing so, got its little metal self wedged into the other beater who thought he still had to spin around as fast as he could. This action caused said second beater to stop spinning and the mechanical engine to smoke.
This led to the inevitably *oh s**t* moment.
Thus being the inquisitive soul that I am, I took the machine apart to try to fix the problem. When the first beater came out and spun itself into the second one, it cause the second one to jam and break the steel cylinder that holds the thing in place! Good grief.....
So I had to stop cookie madness and run to Target to find a new one. What a pain!!

Tip of the day: When using hand mixer, make super, duper sure that beaters are VERY much in place before revving it up!!

Munchkin's sick and I'm not talking fever/ stuffed up nose/ coughing sick. She is vomiting. Everything that has gone in the last 20 hours (as of this post) has come right back out. Poor baby. She seems ok between episodes; she plays, talks, runs around with the dog, etc. I'm relegated to rubbing her back, making sure she has enough towels surrounding her, and fluids to drink. I hope its just a 24 bug, but I have read some viruses last longer than that. But, I know Santa will stop by regardless if she is still sick on the 25th.
Here's the short list I have gathered on what to do for a toddler who is vomiting.
1. Don't panic! Toddlers have a way of picking up your emotions; if you are calm, they will be calm too.
2. Push clear liquids. Dehydration is the number one problem. Once your child has relaxed and been quiet for a bit, try some water or broth. Electrolyte drinks like Pedialite work well. I was told by my pediatrician that watered-down gatorade is a good substitute. And if your toddler is a juice fiend (like mine) you can cut it 50/50 with water if you need to.
3. If you can see any blood, green liquid (bile), or coffee like grounds in what comes up, then head to the emergency room.
4. Most stomach bugs last 24 hours, but a really bad boy like the rotovirus can go on for 8 days or more! So check with your pediatrician if your munchkin keeps vomiting for an extended period of time. Also, if they are lethargic, turn blue, or have trouble breathing.

You can find much more info about toddlers vomiting atBabycenter . When my daughter was a baby I frequented this site just about everyday!!

I was checking out old posts and had to post this comercial again..I just love this...check out my original post with the original video from the group Band of Horses.
It's for the Ford Edge....

I am up to my elbows in flour and sugar at the moment so this won't be a marathon post but while I was mixing cookie dough, my thoughts turned to what the most favorite cookie is for the holidays? I love good 'ol Chocolate Chip, though I make a mean Gingerbread cookie too. And a few years ago I tried a molasses cookie that makes my mouth water to this day! *where IS that recipe?*
I guess for the kids Sugar cookies are up top, especially if they are allowed to make a mess decorating them. Who cares what they look like so long as it was a fun time putting them together, eh?
I found this site with a billion (well, maybe not that many...but close) recipes! Check them out at here! You are assured you will find at least one recipe your family will thank you for.
And check out the poll too!!

I ended my first fulltime return to school with all A's. And not just A's, I rocked! My final grade in astronomy, one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken ended with a 97.5, eng lit. was 95.2, and out of 5 research papers I wrote in the past 2 months, I sailed away with 2 100's, a 95,93 and 91. Very cool. I have been thinking this whole time that I would go into teaching science and (since I have to choose a second iterest) math. Not that I want to teach math, but it would be pretty simple for me and I could do it if I had to. I love science though. The reasons behind why snow falls, mountains are formed and why stars explode are absolutley facinating.
But lately I have been obsessing about writing books. And not just one...many, many of them. The more I think about it, the more ideas I come up with. So in the end, would it be smarter of me to go for an english/history? I don't know. There's just too much that interests me out there. I have to start writing, but I feel like I need something a little less harsh on the body to fall back on. Lanscaping just doesn't cut it for me anymore.
I have a few months before I have to make a decision. Until then, I will revel in my 4.0.

Here it is Tuesday already and I haven't made it to the grocery store *yet* this week. Normally we go on the weekend, but last Saturday was free pictures with Santa and I couldn't pass that up. But munchkin was in tears while when we left, though we were both freezing our tootsies off! So we headed to the mall for lunch and work our way around the gazillions of shoppers (WHO said people aren't spending as much this year?) to ride the train there and check out the fish at Bass Pro Shops.
Then Sunday was a relaxing day moving furniture to fit munchkin's toddler bed in our room again. *sigh*
So I had planned to get by the store yesterday, but I was having so much fun talking "adult talk" to a friend and watching the kids roll under the booth seats at a restaurant that I just couldn't leave. So here we are at Tuesday with no milk, no lunch meat, no fruit. My child ate dry cheerios and had apple juice for breakfast and if I don't start to "Move it, move it", we will be eating the same thing for lunch and dinner!

I remember when I was in school how 3:10pm could not come around fast enough. I would stare out in space and steal glances at the clock every few minutes, it was torture. Tic...Toc...Tic...Toc. Seconds just do not transforn into minutes at a rapid rate whie you are young. But flash forward 20 years and boom!! Seconds are flying by faster than they have ever gone by and not only that, it feels like they are speeding up. It seems like the entore three years since my daughter was born have happened witin about a week! She was tiny, then she could walk and now talks in sentences. She isn't just a baby anymore, she's a little girl.
The way everything keeps going by, she's going to be in school, driving and getting married before I know what hit me! Good grief...
